Job Summary

Harford Mutual is seeking an Accounts Receivable Supervisor to support the Accounting team.  The Accounts Receivable Supervisor supervises and organizes accounts receivable activities, ensuring an accurate accounts receivable system as well as coordinates the year-end filing and regulatory process.

Essential Duties

  • Develops work schedules, assigns duties, and reviews work for accuracy and conformance to policies.
  • Responsible for corrections to customer accounts, reconciliation of receivable accounts, general journal entries, generating invoices, verification of deposits, and postings to accounts receivable.
  • Monitors past due accounts and coordinates collection efforts with internal staff and outside collection agency to generate and maintain accurate documents for customer accounts.
  • Reviews filing requirements for annual updates, coordinates filing packages and related year-end reports.
  • Ensures compliance with all Federal and State reporting and audit requirements.
  • Collaborates with Manager and department staff to meet departmental goals and deadlines.
  • Responds to changing departmental priorities and assists other staff members as needed.
  • Corresponds with customers regarding the status of their account.  Responds to customer inquiries regarding invoices and statements received.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by a Manager.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent education.
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience.
  • Previous supervisory and insurance industry experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting practices as related to Accounts Receivable.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and efficient record keeping required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with the ability to make independent, informed decisions.
  • CPA or pursuit of CPA, and/or willingness to expand knowledge by successful completion of an insurance industry certification program is preferred
