Preventive Tips
How to document my loss for claim purposes
- Take a written or photographic inventory of the contents in your home or place of business
- Additional ownership verification may be requested in the event of a loss
- Retain receipts and owner’s manuals for purchases of personal property and record serial numbers of electronics and other theft-prone items for identification purposes
- Keep copies of important documents in a secure location away from your home or place of business in the event of a total loss
- A fire-retardant safe is useful for protecting important on-site documents
- In the event of a property damage loss, keep receipts of any expenses incurred for reasonable emergency repairs made to protect your home or property
