Jennifer Holbrook Named 2022 RISE 35 Under 35 Award Winner


Harford Mutual Insurance Group is proud to announce Senior Commercial Underwriter Jennifer Holbrook has been named a 2022 Rising Insurance Star Executives (RISE) 35 Under 35 Award winner. This award recognizes young professionals making an impact in their company, community, and the insurance industry as a whole. 

At Harford Mutual, Holbrook has mentored our underwriting interns for multiple summers. She continues to foster those relationships with interns to whom we have offered employment opportunities after graduation. She is an active member of Harford Mutual's Spirit Committee, promoting comradery despite the challenges of the recent pandemic. Holbrook is also a member of Harford Mutual's Innovation Chamber working to ensure that positive change for responsible growth is at the forefront of our culture and that all employees have the opportunity to have their ideas heard. 

Holbrook is active in supporting local non-profits in the Harford County community. Since 2015, she has been a member of the Board of Directors at the Harford Center, an organization that provides day programming for adults with differing abilities. Holbrook also volunteers as a foster parent and administrative support for TRU Rescue, a local dog rescue. In January 2022, Jennifer joined the Board of Directors at Chesapeake Therapeutic Riding (CTR), a local organization providing equine-based therapeutic healing and learning. Jennifer also volunteers weekly at CTR to help during lessons for children with differing abilities.

Holbrook was also a finalist for the 2021 Athena Young Professional Leadership Award.

Jackie Selke Named Business Insurance 2022 Break Out Award Winner


Harford Mutual Insurance Group is proud to announce SIU Analyst Jackie Selke has been named a 2022 Break Out Award winner by Business Insurance. The annual program recognizes the top 40 professionals across the U.S. who are on track to be the next leaders in the insurance and risk management industry. 

Selke started her career at Harford Mutual in August 2014 in the Claims Department. As a Claims Examiner, Jackie handled small/medium size commercial auto and liability losses. As her experience grew, Jackie learned more about the claims process, insurance coverage, and investigations. 

In October 2018, Harford Mutual formed the SIU. Through Selke's  investigative work in the Claims department and because of her service skills, positive attitude, and leadership qualities, she was selected to become only the second member of the unit. She was brought on as an SIU Analyst in July 2019. 

The SIU department has saved Harford Mutual and its policyholders more than $3.5 million through their efforts. The past 2 years have averaged around 420 referrals per year, and YTD trends for 2022 suggest that number could approach 600 for the current year. This success would not have been possible without Selke's hard work, team mentality, and service skills.

Harford Mutual Insurance Group Women in IT Featured in I95 Business

Business Analyst/Configurator Cheryl Amberman, IT Solutions Specialist Gail Bianco, IT Developer Arianna Gallamoza, IT Project Manager Caty Hartley, IT Developer Sarah Gardner, Business Analyst/Configurator Lori Hopkins, Stat Clerk Judy Lentz, Business Analyst/Configurator Jill Pearson, Business Analyst/Configurator Missie Ruff, and IT Developer Jeneen Taylor are featured in the April issue of I95 Business Magazine.

At Harford Mutual, an environment in which employees of all genders and backgrounds can thrive, 10 of the 34 IT team members are female. This group of women are serving as role models for the next generation of female IT professionals and breaking boundaries in the male-dominated field.

Marcus Moloney Joins Harford Mutual Insurance Group as Vice President and Chief Information Officer


Harford Mutual Insurance Group is pleased to announce Marcus Moloney has joined the leadership team as Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

Moloney will oversee the Information Technology department as Harford Mutual embraces a new hybrid environment, moves away from legacy systems, and continues its vision to be the regional insurance carrier of choice.

A seasoned information technology (IT) leader, Moloney brings nearly 30 years of experience in driving efficiencies and growth through technology and business innovations. Most recently, he served as Head of Information Technology for United Air Temp, where he led a digital transformation and redesign of platforms to deliver a better user experience and improve processes.

Previously, Moloney served as CIO/CTO/CISO for TechExec Strategy and as the Global Chief Information Officer at LISCR, LLC-YCF, where he implemented new enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relations management (CRM) systems, as well as new growth-centric IT practices for 28 worldwide offices and more than 350 employees. Moloney was also the Head of Information Technology at Navy Mutual Aid Association, where he led initiatives to secure network access for over 125,000 association members.

Moloney is originally from Limerick, Ireland, earning a degree in Information Technology from Griffith College.


Stacey Rebbert Named One of Maryland's Top 100 Women by The Daily Record


Harford Mutual Insurance Group is proud to announce The Daily Record has named Stacey A. Rebbert, Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications, to its 2022 listing of Maryland’s Top 100 Women.

"The 2022 Maryland's Top 100 Women demonstrate the incredible progress women have made in leadership roles in Maryland. They inspire change and help to ensure that women have access to every opportunity," said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, senior group publisher of The Daily Record. "Their professional achievements, community impact and commitment to mentoring are outstanding. We at The Daily Record are honored to recognize their accomplishments."

As Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Rebbert has developed the strategies behind the company’s brand management, created the company’s crisis communication plan, and leads her team in the execution of all digital marketing, advertising, employee engagement, public relations, community relations, and corporate communications.

“I am honored to be recognized alongside such a talented and accomplished group of women,” said Rebbert. “I remain committed to inspiring the next generation of female leaders.”

Rebbert holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Towson University and a master’s degree in contemporary communications from Notre Dame of Maryland University. Currently, she serves as a corporate mentor for Towson University’s Outstanding Young Women Leaders Program, which provides leadership skills and experience to female high school juniors/seniors in Baltimore County. Rebbert also serves as an annual mentor for the Towson University Northeast campus graduating seniors’ program.

Rebbert was recently reappointed to the Commission for Women in Harford County. She also currently serves as a Co-Chair of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) Strategic Communications Council, Chair of the Harford Mutual Charitable Giving Committee, and Advisor of the Harford Mutual Innovation Committee and Inclusion, Diversity, and Opportunity Committee. In 2022, Rebbert was named an ATHENA Leadership Award finalist.

Rebbert, along with 99 other influential Maryland women, will be honored at a reception and awards celebration May 9 at the University of Maryland Riggs Alumni Center.

Harford Mutual Insurance Group Creates Charitable Giving Fund with The Community Foundation of Harford County


The Community Foundation of Harford County (CFHC), a nonprofit philanthropic organization dedicated to meeting the changing needs and interests of the Harford County community, announces the creation of the Harford Mutual Insurance Group Community Fund, thanks to their $300,000 contribution.

 “We are proud to have created the Harford Mutual Insurance Group Community Fund. This fund will help Harford Mutual extend its charitable giving to new nonprofit organizations. We also hope to inspire generosity and build upon Harford Mutual’s legacy of service and philanthropy,” says President & CEO Steven D. Linkous.

Harford Mutual Insurance Group, founded in 1842, provides commercial property and casualty insurance products and services to a regional market. Executive Director Jennifer Farrell accepted the contribution on behalf of the Foundation saying “Harford Mutual has shown an extraordinary dedication to philanthropy in Harford County, and we are honored to partner with them as they deepen their commitment to making an impact and strengthening their legacy.”

Besides inspiring like-minded generosity among local donors, the new fund helps Harford Mutual Insurance Group take advantage of CFHC’s expertise in managing charitable support of local nonprofit organizations.

The Community Foundation of Harford County (CFHC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit philanthropic organization. All donations, gifts, and pledges to the CFHC are tax-deductible, and all donations made to the CFHC stay local. David R. Curtin Joins Welcome One Emergency Shelter Board of Directors


Vice President of Underwriting David Curtin has joined the Welcome One Emergency Shelter Board of Directors. Curtin has served on the Board's Finance Committee since September 2021 and will continue to do so in his new role.

Harford Mutual is a proud supporter of Welcome One Emergency Shelter, which is the only year-round homeless shelter in Harford County.






Geneau M. Thames, Esq. Named 2022 Leaders in Law Honoree

FINAL_Geneau_Website.pngHarford Mutual Insurance Group is proud to announce The Daily Record has named Assistant Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary Geneau Thames, Esq. to its 2022 listing of Leaders in Law. Thames was named a Leadership in Law In-House Counsel honoree.

"This year The Daily Record partnered with the Maryland State Bar Association to recognize members of the state's legal community in nine categories, ranging from in-house counsel to justice champion to law firm support staff. These honorees work tirelessly to uphold high legal standards and improve communities throughout Maryland," said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, senior group publisher of The Daily Record.

Thames has been Harford Mutual’s in-house counsel since May of 2015. She is responsible for advising the CEO and other executives on strategic initiatives for the company. Thames represents the company in dealing with clients, external agencies, and regulatory bodies as the primary legal counsel.

Thames has a dual bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from Towson University and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore, which she received cum laude. She currently has memberships with the Maryland State Bar Association and the Maryland Defense Bar. Thames is also an active member of DRI, The Voice of the Defense Bar and sits on the Maryland State Ethics Committee, the Federal Affairs Committee for the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC), and the Government Regulations Committee for the Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (PAMIC). She is currently on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Harford and Cecil Counties and is also a member of the Board of Directors for There Goes My Hero. In 2020, she was named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by The Daily Record.

Thames will be recognized with her fellow honorees at a celebration event on April 7, 2022.


Harford Mutual Insurance Group Named to RISE Elite 50 Internships List for Second Year in a Row


For the second year in a row, Harford Mutual Insurance Group has been named to the RISE Elite 50 Internships list. Rising Insurance Star Executives (RISE Professionals) released a list of the top 50 internship programs in the insurance industry across the U.S., and our program was recognized as being one of the best.

Since 2013, more than 40 young professionals have interned in multiple departments at Harford Mutual, including Information Technology, Underwriting, Actuarial, Accounting, and Marketing. Harford Mutual’s Internship Program runs each year from June through early August. During the eight-week program, interns work with employees and managers within their departments assigned and have the opportunity for direct interaction with senior leadership. A total of 14 interns have become full-time employees.

Teresa McTague Appointed to Harford Mutual Insurance Group's Board of Directors


Harford Mutual Insurance Group announces Teresa McTague has been appointed to its Board of Directors. She will serve on the Board’s Compensation and Investment Committees.

McTague is a senior executive with over 30 years of experience in investments, capital markets, finance, portfolio management, and asset and risk management. She is currently a Senior Managing Director for Aflac Global Investments, also serving as the U.S. Chief Investment Officer; Head of Asset Management Risk; Global Head of Direct Lending, Real Estate and Infrastructure Debt; and Global Head of ESG Investment Strategies. She also is a member of the Aflac Asset Mgt. LLC Board. McTague previously served as the Senior Portfolio Manager/Client Strategist at General Re - New England Asset Management. Teresa was also a member of the General Reinsurance Risk Committee.
